Purchased at an estate sale. I guess at the age given the age of the other equipment in the sale. I also purchased a Sears Roebuck disk/belt sander with the 103 prefix. Also at the sale was a vintage Boice Crane 12" surface planer (500# monster). The gentleman that owned the equipment was a true craftsman making quality pieces of furniture for his home.

As you look at the front of the jointer the larger "triangular" openings almost appear to be cut or ground out after the casting process. Either that or the castings used in the manufacture were rather crude. So perhaps one hint may be to visualize this jointer with a solid front. The measurement of the bed/table is 9" front to back and 30 1/2" left to right. There are three sets of threaded holes on the top of the bed/table to attach the fence to. Those holes along with the slot adjustment in the fence give quite a range to set the fence across the knives. The cutter head has three knives. The larger pulley in the picture does say "Delta No. 5700". In the photo showing the fence you will see a set screw in the right hand third of the fence for setting the angle of the fence.

Is the "blade" shut off a circuit breaker of sorts?

One thought I had was that this was originally part of a combination machine and thought I had found the manufacturer when I saw a Hutchinson combination machine jointer that also had the "open" pork chop. However the fence and pork chop were oriented exactly opposite of this machine. I thank all for their input. Tim
