Comments:
We know very little indeed about this particular sander. It doesn’t match any of the smaller disc sanders so far logged here, though it shares some basic architecture with offerings by Yates, Atlas Press, Tomlee, etc. The paint appears to be original and the casting marks and six-lobed knobs suggest the various parts belong together, including the miter gauge which appears rather oversized. The asymmetric miter gauge as well as the table tilt adjustment both only work from the right side, suggesting that if this had been a disc sander attachment for a lathe (the base suggests not), it would have had to have been mounted outboard.
Edit: Mike Levine identified this as a Blue Star (Heston Anderson) accessory for a lathe from the 1941 catalog (cut below). Except for the wing nuts it is a perfect match so I suspect this particular sander was a slightly revised later version.
