Comments:
Purchase around 1983 from the widow of the original owner. Used it as a lathe and drill press until I got a separate drill press in the 1990s. Since then only used it as a lathe. Replaced the bearings, pulleys, tool rest and power switch but still using what I assume is the original Hoover motor. Over the years I discarded the non-lathe accessories. It is mounted on a solid wood table with 3 buckets of gravel below as ballast so it is pretty much free from vibration. The spur is quite worn and I am looking for a machinist who can, for a reasonable fee, make and adapter for the 5/8" 16 tpi spindle so I can use standard 1" 8 tpi accessories. Machine shops want $160 - $250 to make a custom one since 5/8" 16 tpi is not a standard thread. Overall very happy with this machine despite it being over half a century old.

I did finally find great old-school machinist who made me an adapter so I can use standard 1" x 8tpi accessories. Cost me $250 and he also straightened the shaft to within a few thousandths. Very happy with all of that.
