Comments:
The press has a war bd. badge on it. Which would seem to indicate it being made in the early 40's. Curiously, when I first got this press, I thought the belt cover was original Atlas. I have come to find out that the smooth belt guards were offered by Craftsman. Where as the crested and ribbed belt guards of similar configuration were the ones that Atlas put on their badged presses. Considering that this press was badged as Atlas, it would seem likely that the guard was purchased from Sears sometime after it was bought new and probably before the start of WW11.
