I bought this sander about ten years ago with the intent of restoring it and using it. Well, it sat disassembled in boxes for a long time. Very recently, I finally got around to restoring it. When I bought the sander, it was in rough condition but what I liked about it was the fact that it was complete and not missing any parts or factory original hardware. It came with the correct stand and dust chute w/extension. I did have to find a vintage correct motor for it. As far as the restoration goes, new bearings in the motor, and everything was taken down to bare metal/cast iron. All hardware was meticulously cleaned and all threads were chased or restored. I applied Rustoleum 2X primer to all steel and cast iron followed by a fairly liberal coat of Rustoleum “Smoke Grey” Gloss Protective Enamel. All the cast iron got one coat of paint. The steel stand got two coats with a red grit Scotch Bright pad rub in between coats. The results were actually better than I expected.
