My dad acquired this drill press from his place of work, Doughboy Packing/Machinery, in the early 70s. It was purchased during an employee auction for phased out equipment. Not sure of purchase price, but knowing my dad it was "dirt cheap". It was missing the base, so he had a coworker lathe the bottom of the post to fit a collar that bolted to a base of some type mounted to his homemade cart - painted in his famous "battleship gray" color, given to every shop component he had. My parents retired to north central WI for 20 years and the press came with. After his passing, my youngest brother took the press to his home in the west suburbs of Chicago. Fast forward a few years and he told me he didn't have a need for it anymore. By coincidence my wife and I purchased a cabin three years ago about one mile from my parents retirement location and the drill press is now back "home". At some point the chuck key went missing but I believe I have one at our main home. Motor could use a step pulley but functions as is. The press came with two nice drill index sets, a large set of spade bits, many misc bits, some small milling bits and a C-man drum sander kit. I restored a C-man floor model 10 years ago to use at home, so this one will stay at the cabin. Anything that appears non-OEM is something my dad made as a replacement during his "off hours" as a machinist. Thanks to Jeff J. for clarifying duplicate serial numbers are possible in the WT lineup.
