Found at a tool sale in a barn for 30.00; no motor, no tires, rusty blade riding on metal wheels, missing top cover knobs, but with original LBS 28 riser block and long blade guards. Seller claimed to have been using it!? I installed a 2 hp motor with a 30 amp magnetic contactor switch. The original tension spring was whipped, so I installed a stouter Iturra replacement, as well as a longer tension rod with square-cut threads, a larger bronze tension adjusting nut, and a crank. I made an upper tension rod guide from Delrin to steady the rod and crank at the top. I designed the drive system of dual belts and pulley sizing using the Gates Design-Flex software, and it was a breeze to arrive at belts and pulleys that allowed me to use the original belt covers. I put threaded holes in each side of the riser block to accommodate the contactor enclosure and switch boxes, and installed Olson cool blocks in the original blade guides. I use it for sawing turning blocks from short logs using a Carter Log Mill, and it whistles a merry tune through 10"-12" green cherry, walnut, maple burl, or whatever! It's a single-purpose machine, as I have other band saws. It is now a rock-steady workhorse, capable of reaching proper blade tension, it has plenty of power, and is a pleasure to use.
