This popped up on Facebook Marketplace and the fact that it was only 2 hours away didn't dissuade me from buying it. Maybe it should have because someone converted it over to using hollow chisels, with the result that it no longer can use the correct (and vintage) chisels for only foot operation, NOR can it use anything other than a 3/8" hollow chisel & bit.
Regardless, it is a cool machine and probably will be used a bit in the shop once it is fixed up. I am going to take a two prong approach:
1. Get the parts to convert it back to only foot power
2. Get other parts to convert it fully to an adjustable electric powered hollow chisel mortiser.
All parts are complete and present, except the head and such.
I can not find a serial number anywhere
There are no casting numbers anywhere (NONE!)
This is not high in my queue so it will meander on a back burner for a while. That will give me a chance to find parts and maybe get some made, too.
