This motor was owned by my grandfather, Benedict Benco, since the early 1950's. After his death in 1990, it went to my father. This motor powers a Herbert's Machinery Belt Disc sander. After 70 years of woodworking use, the motor became filled with sawdust and needed a rebuild which was completed in 2020. Although branded Delco, it was built by Sunlight Electrical (Delco took them over in 1933). According to sales literature located on this website, the motor featured "sealed" bushings that were meant to provide lifetime lubrication. The rear bushing is not accessible for lubrication without taking the motor apart. The motor shafts showed almost no wear which is pretty amazing considering the motor was 83 years old at the time of restoration and was still going on the original lube. I added the Gits style oilers to make future lubrication easier. The motor runs smooth and quiet.
