I have just now, sold this saw as of 9/27/2020. The previous edit was in 1/15/2006, but I think I got the saw in 2004 or 2005
This saw is an Ebay purchase. I bought it from an old man that had rebuilt metal working machinery, mostly grinders, out of his barn for a living. He had gotten the machine second hand intending to use it for metal cutting. He repoured the babbit bearings and fitted a Reeves Drive. He couldn't slow the saw down enough for his needs, so it sat for about 15 years.
So far, I've dis-assembled the saw, and powerwashed it. The saw appears to have a combination of black and green coatings. I'm not sure whats what. The black could be the orignal paint, or possibly just a filler/primer with the green being original... I don't know. It also has a small area of a lighter green than was obviously done later, it looks like a spill, possibly.
The saw has sustained some damage over the years, and has been modified a bit because of it. The sliding assembly that the upper wheel attaches to was broken and repaired. The lower wheel mounting looks to have been modified. Each babbit block has had bolts added to adjust the spacing in the babbit, rather than using gasket material. I'm wondering if this will leak.
