This radial drill came from a small machine manufacturing business just south of Boston. This may be a very early example as it has a stamped serial number 141. I was told they purchased it from a used machinery dealer in Boston bout the mid 60s It has sat unused for the last 5 or so years in their shop except for an unsuccessful attempt to use it as an overgrown paint mixer. This drill seems is missing the jack shaft assembly. I dont know weather it came this way from the factory or was modified at some time. None of the catalogs I have seen show the radial drill in this configuration. Again it may be an early example. If it is a modification it was very well done. The top coat of paint is a machine gray. It looks like it was brushed on. There are 2 layers of gray, all of them easily scrape, off revealing graphite black as the bottom original layer. This color seems also to be on the inside spaces.
EDIT: This entry was updated to change the "Machine Type" in the Specifications field from "drill press" to "radial drill". I also updated the estimated manufacture date to 1941, based on it having the orange badge with no serial number data field, and that it is the early version with no jackshaft. The date of original upload for this entry was 1/11/2006. The edit was done on 8/30/2015. admin:dg
