Comments:
I have had this in my shed for close to 40 years.I am finally getting around to restoring, fixing, selling etc.numerous old machines I have here.I estimate this small lathe weighs 150 lbs.
This was purchased at a local flea market.I was intrigued by the very heavy construction, considering that is is a small bench wood lathe.
There are no manufacturing marks or makers name on any castings.
The head stock and tail stock tapers are Jarno #4 (by Brown & Sharpe)
One rail is vee bed and the other rail is flat.
As you can see, there is no allowance for a power feed of any kind and the very heavy tool post & rest for wood chisels was on it.
The bronze bushings are as new....no play whatsoever.
This lathe is only 32" long and 6" wide at the bottom of the mounting footprint. The tail stock is identical to construction of a metal lathe tail stock. The swing over the bed is 8".The beautifully machined steel pulley probably weighs 25-30 lbs.
I have been unable to find any old wood lathe even remotely similar to this.If anyone has any information on this,it would be appreciated.I found this not far from the auction where I purchased the Poly Products 8" rock polisher which is on this site.(I sent those photos to Mr.Joplin several years ago....)
