This machine was first put to work in Philadelphia under 2-phase power and had a 2-phase, 840 rpm direct drive motor. I removed the motor and purchased the lower arbor assembly that came with the belt-drive versions. Mar Machine in Costa Mesa, CA was a real help here, as they auctioned off a whole lower assembly on eBay. For my $34 bid I received the arbor block, the lower wheel and tire with a new brake drum, and the dual-groove pulley. Shipping was in the mid-$40 range-- more than the item itself!
I initially ran the machine with a single belt, but it seemed to take a long time to get up to speed. I have since installed a matching 2-groove sheave on the motor and a second belt and the saw gets up to speed fast.
The tags on the machine indicate Milwaukee and Crescent on the top door, and Rockwell and Milwaukee on the rear-mounted serial number tag. S/N is 8171. The machine also uses conventional rubber tires, not the thick urethane tires normally associated with the Rockwell 20" saws.
