This vice was used by my wife's father, a machinist, probably in the mid 1950's. It's been in storage for many years.

One aspect of this vice I have not encountered in similar vices. There's a built in set of 20 "teeth" in the base and a "foot" with mating "toes". The vice can be rotated horizontally and the "foot" can be tightened from above the base into any one of the 20 "teeth". Presumably this mechanism is to prevent unintended rotation of the vice when bending stock, etc. The 'happy face' picture below shows the teeth.
