Comments:
Discovered this machine within thirty miles of its place of origin, Portland. Although the original motor (see the other sander posted here) was exchanged for this Brown-Brockmeyer B-Line, this sander did come with a spare OEM iron disc for use as a swap in with a second grit. The well designed table stops for 90 degrees do not yield 90 which is still a mystery, but not too hard to fix.
We suspect that J.W.Majek may have been inspired by the designs of Elmer Knight, a fellow Portlander who was building similar machinery (mostly out of aluminum) at Benson Polytechnic High School around this time. http://www.vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=13874
The two bandsaws, the one by Elmer Knight and the one by Majek are even closer than the two disc sanders.
