I bought this from an OWWM member at the 2019 Arnfest swap meet. I've been following these on the discussion boards for some time, and being intrigued by slot mortisers in general I have always hoped to pick one up that also has the benefit of being produced in Chicago, where I live. This machine is very simply made, with most parts being stock channel, tube, or plate shapes bolted or welded together. There are a few castings as well. The size of the mortise is controlled by the table traverse, which is handled by a knob that has a steel cable wrapped around it. There are two limit stops on the right to control travel distance. The depth of the mortise is controlled by a lever that pulls the attached router towards the operator and into the work piece. There is a sheet metal apparatus that can set a depth limit accessed from the rear. Mortise position is adjusted with a large threaded post and nut, with an additional locking knob to keep things from moving around.
Interestingly, getting this machine solved a mystery for me. I also own a Wallace hollow chisel mortiser, and it has a rare traverse table on it. The parts for this traverse table are identical to the ones on the Routiser, so I believe this is how the mortiser was shipped from Wallace. I had previously assumed it was a third party attachment.
