I bought this mortiser from an OWWM member off of the BOYD forum in the summer of 2018. It came to me almost 100% complete, running, and with the original Wallace gray paint. This example has a feature that sets it apart from other listings here: it includes an attachment for table traverse. Generally the Wallace mortisers have only adjustments for table height and setting the distance of the fence from the chisel. I had thought when getting the machine, that this attachment was an aftermarket (albeit pretty well designed) attachment, but I now believe that it left the Wallace factory this way. I say this because I have since acquired a Wallace Routiser (slot mortising machine) and the traverse mechanism on this mortiser appears to be the exact same parts as the top half of the Routiser. It is very simply designed, with dovetail ways milled into a piece of 1/4" steel plate, and there is a cable fixed at both ends that wraps around the shaft attached to the traverse knob. There is also a clamp to press the workpiece into the fence, which appears to be a stock Jorgensen pipe clamp. This feature may be unique to the mortiser as it isn't used on the routiser but utilizes the same hole as the Routiser hold-down. Also based on the parts present on my Routiser, there is a missing piece of the traverse mechanism, a rod with movable stops to control the travel. The strap steel yoke on the right side of the table is meant to engage with the two stops.
