In Dec05 a nice gentleman (30 minutes from my home) posted a note to the forum: "Builders Saw free to a good home".
I was the only one to respond and picked it up on 17Dec05.
He did a nice job of disassembling the heavy and fragile components for easy transportation.

This machine is a 1942 8" Craftsman Builders Saw, model 103.2503, with a 1941 style fence.
The 1942 machine introduced the dust collection chute and a standard miter gauge slot across the depth of the table.
The carriage travels on three rollers across two steel tubes from front to back.
The miter gauge/guide can be attached to the table in two compass locations.
The blade can be pulled through large work pieces or operated like a regular tablesaw with the carriage locked.
The blade elevation bevel gears are missing. The previous owner installed a nut on the elevation screw and used a socket to adjust the blade height.
The top is comprised of two removable plate steel assemblies.
Angle iron ledges on each side are sized for user made 2x lumber extentions.
The owner's manual/parts list is here: http://www.owwm.com/pubs/detail.asp?id=1490

Included was a 1941/2 Craftsman model 315.5608, 1/2HP, 3450RPM, 110/220V, 10/5A, double 1/2" shaft RI motor. The pulley included (2.0") was the wrong size (should be 3.0"). With an arbor pulley of 2.5", it probably cut fairly slow.

I plan on putting it together, making the necessary adjustments and using in in the garage to break down plywood/large lumber, before taking it to the basement shop.
