Comments:
This General Electric A-C motor came on a circa 1952 Dunlap 12 1/4" Drill Press, a non factory pairing. It had layers of oil which likely leaked over the decades from the motor being installed in a vertical position—probably not ideal for this design of motor. The last bits of paint on the information plate was in poor shape, as can be seen below, and didn't survive the cleaning. As an aside, this motor sounds similar to a motor that has lifting brushes, but I find no evidence on the internet that it does.
New leads and cord were installed. Runs well. Very quiet (except for the slight scraping sounds at start and stop).
