Comments:
I acquired this 1952 drill press from a gentlemen in western Ohio, three plus hours away. But it was the right press for me. I took this press apart into tiny pieces and cleaned, derusted, primed painted and shined. With a little help from a few friends to repair a broken motor bolt . This press plus all other tools made approx 1951 to 1953 by the Central specialty company. It was theorized by some that the American government put chrome rationing back in for the Korean conflict. So these presses have no trim strip on top, and no chrome plating. They have this really thick gray paint on parts that were chrome plated in years that were not rationed. So I have a couple before pictures, and a bunch finished. The colors I used were rustoleum charcoal gray for tool and rustoleum gloss black for base. This machine has been taken apart and sold for parts when I bought my floor model press.
