This was my first Oliver 299-D. Performed a complete rebuild and restoration on it. Being a School shop machine it did not have a lot of hours on it. Mechanically it was in good shape for its age but it had a lot of School shop paint jobs to remove. Striped it down to bare iron filled and smoothed out the casting with filler, primed and painted with Imron. Replaced all the top end bearings, replaced the VS feed belt, installed new knifes, rebuilt the chip breaker and the sectional feed roller. Thanks to the great job Oliver did on these Planers all of the lower end and lower feed roller bearings were good as they run in a oil bath.
Replaced this 299 with a 70'S Very rare (still round style) 299-D ITCH head Planer with the quick adjust bed roller option.
