I purchased this machine from the government liquidations online auction. It was surplused from Nelis AFB in Las Vegas Nevada. Nice machine. Only needed some cleaning and a brake adjustment. This jointer is symetric except for the fence. This machine has a nice center mounted fence. The fence is asymetric and has more length over the in feed table than the out feed table, and it is not mounted at its center, as a result, the fence is somewhat difficult to adjust. This machine also came with part of a knife grinding attachment.

I have used this machine and learned a few things: First, Im trying to operate this machine on a 5hp rotary phase converter. Because it has a high speed 5.5 hp motor, a 5 hp converter can just barely supply the starting current required for this machine. Im upgrading to a 15 hp converter. Second, This machine is very loud when it runs. Hearing protection is a must. Third, this machine joints a better surface on cherry, walnut, and oak than any other machine I have ever used. With a slow feed rate I find that I can't even feel the jointer marks. In fact it leaves a considerably better surface than the 20" powermattic planer that I have and it puts my 8" delta jointer to shame. The large tables also make it very easy to handle large / long boards. I've even jointed entire logs before resawing them. Very nice machine.
