Comments:
Around 25 years ago I acquired this scroll saw through a trade with a fellow worker. For most of those years it sat in a tool shed and was used only occasionally. More recently I was planning to sell it but needed to find an approximate value. A Google search did not turn up any model like this one. During that search I also ran across this site and found other Beebe models like “Little Cut up”. What I have here seems to be Little Cut up’s Big Brother, weighing in at 62 pounds.

Every function with the exception of the on/off switch always worked, so it needed replacing along with the extremely brittle wiring and four rubber feet. A good rub down was all it needed to bring back the blue finish on the metal exterior. The saw also has an adjustable table that can be moved to 45 degrees on either side of center.

There is no indication where it was bought. Since I live in the Vancouver area it is very possible that it was supplied by National Machinery in Vancouver that Tom Carpenter mentioned. The age of this scroll saw is probably from the 1950’s-1960’s. If anyone has information on the saw, I would like to hear from you. Currently it is not for sale.

UPDATE. February 28, 2019. After some serious Google, Canadian and USA Patent searching I have located some interesting details. The inventor of this machine was Dan D. Beebe of Seattle, possibly the brother of Robert Beede who invented the Little Cut Up years earlier. A USA patent was filed on March 24, 1949 and granted November 24, 1953. Patent No. US8118749. A Canadian patent was applied for and issued on September 7, 1954. Number 505541.
Now here is the mystery. The label on my machine shows the Canadian patent number as 381874. This number refers to a non-refillable bottle stopper and was applied for in 1939.
