My 103.0502 (Sears blue paint) jointer is a small 4¼ machine with an oval shaped stamped metal plate riveted in place on the front with the CRAFTSMAN logo silk-screened on it. It also has a water decal on the back that is a stylized wing design and has the text CRAFTSMAN BALL BEARINGS in the main area and smaller script below saying AMERICAS FINEST.
On the stamped metal model # plate located high up on the back side of the machine is
the model number 103.0502 and the text Sears Roebuck and Co. U.S.A.
The black painted cast zinc fence protractor is mounted to a traversing square thread
screw that is turned with a chrome-plated crank located at the rear of the in feed bed. The fence protractor is tightened with a handle that is fashioned after a closed end wrench and slides on and off the hex screw head that locks the protractor in position.
I acquired the machine as used from a contractor in Des Moines, IA some 40 years ago. It
did not have a manual with it and I would very much like to acquire a copy of one.
