I bought the machine from a guy whose uncle bought and used the saw for framing houses and other on site work. The saw can be loaded in back of a truck by two men without too much strain....but loading and moving from job site to job site causes alot of wear and tear on a saw......and it showed on this one. The saw had been sitting under a shed for the past 6 years and needed quite alot of clean up. The motor was rewound not long before it was "put out to pasture", so it runs good and cuts smooth.
Sorry, but I didn't restore the paint to the original color....I used Rustoleum Hammered Dark Bronze, which is close to the DeWalt blue-grey color. I also went with stainless steel knobs that are not original....but they sure do look good!!!!
I am showing the saw set up for a rip cut. I use "Board Buddies" along with the manufacturers recommended set up for the DeWalt RAS. You can get info on the proper use of these saws at mrsawdust.com. Also note the safety glasses, roller extention, pusher board and a sized (not warped or twisted) board with a straight edge of the board against the fence.
Mr. Sawdust claims the GWI to be "the best DeWalt model ever produced"..... I agree.
