In 1963 Powermatic manufactured this Model 141 14" Band Saw, a local dealer, BOSHCO Woodworking Machinery in Medford, MA, delivered the saw to Frank Rooney a local Boston carpenter and fine furniture woodworker in Somerville, MA. Sometime in the 1960's BOSHCO changed the motor and the band saw was rewired for a 3/4 HP 220V 1-phase Dayton motor. It appears the saw was in the same shop from 1963 to 2018; 55 years. I purchased the band saw off cl in working condition October 2018 for $500. My plan is to clean and tune the band scroll saw; primary use is for sawing all kinds of curved work, or combinations of curved and straight work, both square and beveled.
I will use the band saw daily in my home shop (about 30 miles from Somerville); most of my work is simple furniture, I plan to saw chair parts, tabletops, table legs and bowl blanks for my lathe. Great saw!
Update: This BS was manufactured with the current 3/4 HP 220V 1-phase Dayton motor; it was not changed.
