Comments:
I bought this lathe on ebay about 10 years ago. The person I bought it from sent a note saying his research had no information of any of these being made. The quantity made column always says "none made". My research has come up the same, "none Made'. Well I have one. It is the same as the picture on the patent papers, dated March 29, 1859, No. 23,406. The patent is for the wax chuck in the lathe that has an adjustable center. The lathe base has a stamp
R. H. St John, PAT'D MAR.29, 1859. The number 217 is stamped on top of the head stock that looks to me to mean it was the 217th one made. But I am not sure. There is also a small no 4 on the top
