I found this machine on CL just a couple of miles from my shop. I found a nice original delta 3/4 hp motor on EBay, after i got it cleaned up and installed new spindle bearings, I realized that it ran a bit too fast for my needs. I looked at a lots of ideas for a speed reduction attachment. Most utilize an insert in the drill press column but I didn’t have a scrap large enough for that style. Instead I decided to use the 3/4 inch bore at the top of the frame to mount the middle pulley (the original motor pulley). This seems to work out as both belts are tightened simply by using the original motor mounts. This works because the front belt is fitted with the pulley swiveled to one side then tightened when the motor is pulled back.
