I was on my way to work when I saw what looked like the leg of a lathe , so on my return home I stopped at the location which was beside a truck repair facility . I went over to the lathe to get a closer look . It was partially covered by a tattered canvas tarp . Enough was exposed that I could see that it was a Treadle Wood Lathe . I went to the truck repair facility to inquire , but found it closed , so I wrote the phone number in my note book . The next morning I called and left a voice mail message , and another each day for three more days . Finally I got a response . The man said to call Kathy at a particular auto repair facility . When I spoke to Kathy she asked what I wanted it for , I said to restore and operate it. She was pleased to hear that I wasn't planning to scrap it because it belonged to her late father . I met her at the site the following evening and purchased it and loaded it on my truck.
