Comments:
I collect trimmers, have about 60, and have done a LOT of research on them. However, until this one showed up on eBay in November of 2005, I had never heard of this particular make or model.
It bears a great resemblance to an Oliver No. 1, and is about the same size - a little larger than a Lion Trimmer (that's a Lion behind it in the first picture). However, unlike any other trimmer I've ever seen, this one is not cast iron, but cast aluminum.
Since the dataplate shows a zip code, it couldn't have been made before 1963, when they were introduced. It bears serial number 11011, so it's my guess that it's the 1011th one made.
So, if anybody out there has any info on these trimmers, or their manufacturer, let me know!
UPDATE: I spoke to the owner of the company, which became Porta-Nails, Inc. He asdvised that approximately 1500 were made - around 1981.
