This machine was sold at a bankruptcy auction in Pontiac IL 11/18/05. I did not win it then, but later bought it from the scrap dealer that did. It was likely going to be ground up into slivers.
The lower wheel is quite stiff and likely has a shaft or bearing problem. It did not have guides, a motor, or a blade and "might not have run well when taken out of service." But it does have some parts I might be able to use. That's a story for another day.
S/N 14641 stamped on the upper wheel hub --and on the frame and upper wheel adjusting mechanism as in photo #1. I need to check the table as well.
I shall attempt to get some history on the Pontiac Chair company, if not the specific saw. This may give some rough idea if the saw actually spent all those years in one place. Babbitt bearings, of course.
Consequently, the possible age noted here is merely based on other saws in the registry, their (presumed) dates of manufacture per S/N, and where this S/N occurs in that sequence.
