Funny story on this one. "Poe" Emerson graciously offered this jointer to the list a few months back, free to anyone who could pick it up in Houston. Works fine, lacks original guard, painted red. How could I resist, working old arn a mere 190 miles away? Hurricane Rita rained out my first scheduled pick up date, but then I found out that my wife was planning a shopping trip to Houston of all places. Long story short, she and Poe loaded the jointer and base into the back of the station wagon and she shlepped it back for me.
So I got a free jointer & stand, works just fine, delivered by my wife. Can you beat it?
One minor hiccup: I mic'ed the original knives at .120", and figured that meant 1/8", so I ordered a new set of 1/8"x3/4"x6" knives. Turns out that .005" makes a big difference when actually trying to fit the knives into the cutterhead... I can't do it. I've got them in the freezer now and will see if that shrinks them enough. Anyone know what the story is with the .120" knives?
Thanks to Poe and also to my dear wife.
serial number is 26-805. At least that is stamped on the rabbet ledge of the outfeed table.
