This is not my saw.
Spotted this creative and unique Fret saw on E..Y and felt it deserved a spot in the Photo Index. This is the description of the saw given by the owner:

The Shakers were as inventive as they were industrious. This beautifully made early fret saw came out of Maine and is likely the work of a Shaker cabinetmaker to make his time consuming fret sawing just a little easier.
The saw itself measures 18" tall and 22 1/2" wide with a table dimension of 6 3/4" by 10 3/4" and a work clearance (sweep) of 12 1/2".
The saw frame is made of oak and joined with pinned mortise and tenon joints. The table is laminated in three layers to reduce weight, strength and stability. The blade throat is a lozenge shaped bone insert.
The saw works by being clamped to a bench or table leaving one hand free to work the spring loaded saw handle and the other hand to guide the work piece through the saw blade. The 12 1/2" sweep allows relatively large work pieces.
