As seen at the closing auction for Gerlando and Son Woodworking in Chicago.
Babbitt bearings. Small cast iron table slides on (well worn) cast iron ways. Vertical range of the table is at least 18".
The first photo shows the toothed wheel in place that transfers the power from the spindle being driven by the motor to the spindle on the left. By cranking a handwheel on the far left (see photo 2) the left hand spindle can be moved. The toothed wheel is then adjusted to span between the spindles.
The whole kit and caboodle can be turned 90 degrees to drill vertically oriented pairs of holes. See the bottom photo of photo 3- you can see the curved trunnion part by the right hand corner of the wooden table.
