This machine belongs to Alan Dransfield, who provided us with the photos. It is the only Wohlnip drill press we have ever seen or heard of.
The castings are a bit rough. That, plus the shape of the belt cover and the fact the Wohlnip name only appears on applied plates, would seem to imply an offshore machine. However, the Wohlnip name disappeared by 1972 so it precedes the earliest Taiwan clones that we know of. In 1970 Wohlnip was making drill spindles and it's possible they fit their spindle to outsourced drill press castings.
