The no. 700 lathe was manufactured by Massachusetts Tool Co. which was owned by the Goodell Pratt Co. and was their precision tool company. This lathe is equipped with the Massachusetts Tool Co, cross slide and a Goodel Pratt 3 jaw chuck. It is also part of the Precision Model Lathe Assortment No. 1. The Assortment No. 1 was a package of the lathe, counter shaft, and a number of other accessories in a wooden box that could be customized to the customers needs. This one has all the basics listed in the catalogue and a bit more. The label in the lid shows many of the accessories available. Note the draw bar is threaded on the outside and the collets threaded inside. the Massachusetts Tool Co. ran from around 1900 to 1912 when it was absorbed back into Goodell Pratt.
