I picked this planer up along with an earlier "Parks" badged "parts" machine from another VM.org member out near Milwaukee. I haven't had time to start the restoration work yet. It was drafted more or less "as is" into a project milling quarter sawn oak lumber. It came with a 2HP Master Repulsion Induction motor. I tried to clean the motor up to put it back in service, but after quite a bit of effort I discovered it has a bad winding. Really unfortunate as the's motors are built like tanks and weigh almost 100lbs. I was able to get the planer working for the time being with a 1 1/2 hp craftsman motor, but now I'm on the look out for a more powerful period correct motor prior to starting restoration.

Even with the little 1 1/2hp capacitor start motor, this old beast can make some sawdust.

The motor as I got it. Completely choked with sawdust.

After a lot of cleaning, the windings are all still stained black from the years of gear oil contamination. I tested the windings with a multi-meter only to find one of the 4 outputs appears to have a short somewhere.
