I purchased this buffer from Ebay. It's a well made cast iron unit with robust one piece flange/nuts and oil caps.

I cleaned up all the metal parts and stripped and repainted with an oil based enamel paint. I used Valspar Anti-Rust Armor, Gloss Clear Base. I found a very close color match to original but judging by the paint that was inside the casting not exposed to light, the original paint is slightly darker and greener. See pic for the color code I used. The original bronze bushings were tight and the mandrel spun quietly so I left them alone. Someone unfortunately installed a large pulley over the mandrel threads and the pulley set screw mashed several threads. The nuts still turn ok though with some effort.

I made a cutting board style base out of hard maple and set up the buffer with a restored Delta Milwaukee 1/3 hp 1725 rpm motor. This will be my buffing rig for years to come.
