Just picked up in Vancouver BC for $60 US, Jan 2018. It runs, though the key switch seems a little finicky. Seller claimed it was in use up until sale.
The year built is a bit of a mystery. The two references cited here at vintagemachinery.org are a little at odds, and incomplete.
Rick Antrobus's lookup table (http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/imagedetail.aspx?id=1244) has two lines for 1956, with a big gap in serial numbers between the two, and this serial number falls in that gap. So maybe 1956? But what does the gap mean?
Then, Greg Bruce's table of DeWalt models (http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=4408) indicates that MBC models were only produced from 1949-1955. This serial number falls well beyond the 1955 serial number range in the Antrobus table though.
I would welcome any thoughts/enlightenment about dating this machine!
