I inherited it from my father, Dr. Earl Keyser of Marshalltown, IA, who purchased it new in late 1949 or early 1950. At the time he was building our new family home which included a large shop. This lathe is now in my shop in White Bear Lake, MN.

I’m very fortunate in that my father purchased a large number of SB accessories for this lathe. Many I had used and was aware of, but discovered a new trove in dusty boxes a year ago when I moved the lathe to Minnesota. It is entirely stock at the moment but, I am preparing to renovate the lathe and recently added a QCTP.

My father’s maternal grandfather, David Lennox, was a machinist and Irishman from Cork County who moved to Marshalltown in 1880 from Chicago. David sold off his Marshalltown machine shop in 1912 and retired. My father, born in 1917, grew up working in Dave's home workshop and was a pretty good machinist in his own right. I am proficient, but hope to learn more.
