This drill press belongs to David Reynolds, a friend who enjoys machine restoration. Purchased at state auction with apparently little use. In the summer of 2005, David did a complete restoration, with new bearings, belts, paint and electrical controls. The serial number is 4-4683. David offered it for sale in the OWWM classified section 10/2005.
The original motor is an 1140 RPM single phase TEFC Baldor. Spindle speeds range from 160 RPM to 1000 RPM on this machine. It has step pulleys permitting 5 speeds. The quill has a full 6" stroke, and a #3 morse taper. The original chuck is a ball-bearing jacobs with 3/4" capacity.
The table is a production style with a crank for height adjustment, and two milled slots for attaching vises and other accessories. Remarkably, there is not a single "idiot mark" on the table. The only broken part was the cast iron support for the fiberglass belt cover, and a small crack in the cover itself. These defects were repaired very nicely.
