I bought this machine off eBay for nothin' much. It was ugly, having been badly hand painted a godawful OSHA approved green with yellow table edges. Obviously, it's since been sanded down and refinished to more appropriate colors. The seller said he bought it from a defunct cabinet shop intending to restore it, but never got a 'round tuit'. The bearings were shot in the original spindle and have been replaced using a new extra long 3/4" spindle, bearing spindle cartridge, and two speed pulleys. Since the new spindle came with a 2-speed pulley, I upgraded the motor pulley as well. I've replaced the electricals in entirety, originally supplied with a manual motor starter and no provision for reversing. While I was at it I also replaced the original 1 hp 3 phase motor with a new Leeson 3 hp single phase. The old motor was a NEMA 171 frame (original rating) which necessitated use of a shop fabricated adaptor plate to mount the Leeson to the Delta original LSR-4 motor plate casting. The photos show use of the Delta No. 1322 switch plate supplied with the machine to mount a new drum reversing switch and remote push button station for the A-B magnetic starter and fused disconnect I added (on the right side of the machine). This arrangement puts all controls within easy reach of the operator standing in front of the machine. The later are mounted on a plate bolted through existing holes in the side of cabinet, which avoided drilling a bunch of new holes.
