This machine has a long history . Machine was bought new as far as I know along with a sawmill from Bournival in Montreal. Both the planer and the sawmill came onto the Lower North Shore by coastal steamer. They first went to the village of Musquaro ( closed many year ago ). Most likely they were both run by an old style make and break engine at that time.
In 1975 they were bought by a man in Alymer Sound ( village also closed now) . They were moved from Musquaro to Alymer Sound by means of two small open skiffs.
Planer and sawmill were operated there for many years. The planer was used mostly to plane spruce boat planks. Lots of wooden boats built by the owner . The sawmill was taken down and the planer sat unused outdoors for about 8 years. The planer was then sold to an owner in the village of Kegaska . He never ran it and it sat unused and unprotected outside for another approx 10 years. I visited Kegaska in the summe , saw the planer and the PO,s son gave it to me to see if I could get it running again.
