Here's another machine that's still operating in the machine shop of the Northern Nevada Railway in Ely, NV. Since they maintain old steam and diesel locomotives there, most of their machine tools are huge! This one is no different. That gear wheel in the back is about 2-1/2 to 3 feet in diameter. Ely is a bit off the beaten track, but if you're in the neighborhood, I'd suggest you take the tour of the NNRY facilities, and maybe even take a ride on one of their trains. For the right price, they'll even let you drive!
