Per the VM info for Davis & Wells, this machine was manufactured in Los Angeles. Davis & Wells apparently began operation in 1935. Based on the open-wheel design of this machine, I would say it was made very close prior to 1940. It was most likely purchased new from Consolidated Machinery Supply Co. by the latest sellers grandfather. The grandfather worked in/around Anaheim very near Disneyland for a audio speaker manufacturer as a machine maintenance person. This band saw was used for that purpose. It was passed father to son, until I, Adam Lucke, the present owner bought it in September 2017.
