E-bay purchase. Reputedly, the machine came from a trade school. There are several badges on the machine indicating the dealer who sold it, but none for a trade school (not that it means anything).
Machine is in exceptional condition all things considered (original paint), except the knives that came with it are in rather rough condition. Fence, tables, etc. operate smoothly although could benefit from further cleaning.
Oliver Model 166-BD 12" jointer, SN# 98390 which dates it to early 1967. Motor is 5hp 3ph with direct drive, 3 knife cutterhead. Very smooth operation. If the hand brake is not applied, the cutterhead freewheels for well over 5 minutes.
Unloading a 1700lb machine alone, without the aid of anything more than a car and tractor jack, is an adventure I do not soon plan to repeat.

Overall view of jointer. Installation required a significant shop overhaul.

5hp 3ph motor with direct drive cutterhead. Note how the motor housing flows into the base.

Start/stop control with hand brake. Pulling the knob out turns the machine off, pulling it hard applies the hand brake.
