Always on the lookout for a great Old Iron Deal, I dreamed of finding an Oliver in my travels around the world in 2005. I looked in China, nothing, in Tibet, nothing, on to Nepal, nothing. Heading to India I thought my chances were over. Staying in Varanasi, the Hindu Holy city next to the Ganges river, I never expected to get lucky. Heading back to my hotel on a rickshaw my mouth dropped as I saw a blue Oliver combination machine on the back of a bike. But cows were in front of me, and I couldn't tell for sure what type of machine it was. I yelled for the driver to go faster, and we quickly passed beggers and cows to stop the Oliver Bike. Sad, seeing it looked to be an inferior old iron from Asia, I asked the man how he was able to move the machine onto the bike. He smiled, and said, when old iron calls you don't worry about how to move it, you just do it! I asked where he was taking it, and he said to Bombay, 300 miles away. I couldn't imagine him riding between the elephants, camels, dancing bears, crippled people, and the million bikes and cars to get the machine to Bombay. I know a guy in Las Vegas who claims to be iron Bike with an Oliver touch with machines, and he couldn't ride this bike a mile. I asked the man why he was taking it to Bombay, and he told me someone won it on EBay and wanted it shipped to Maui. Then I knew it, no matter how hard I try to be the first one to the great Oliver deal, some OWWM Zen Master will beat me to the deal. Enjoy!
