Comments:
I bought the machine from an older guy who bought it at an auction over 30 years ago. He said it sat in a building 30 some years before sale. The machine had surface rust on the bed. Under the machine had little or no rust. I replaced the old 3 phase motor with single phase 3 hp motor. I took it apart piece by piece, with help of my hoist. I found very little wear on any part. The 12 in blades were the worst, with rust on cutting edge. I sharpened with my planer grinder the best I could. I put on a 8'x 2'x 7" sled. I also added a blower that runs on same motor. The first date on brass plate is june 11 1907, last 4 dates were hand stamped on machine in blank spaces, with the last date june 3 1924. I built a blade guard which works fine, but not as heavy built as original. In-feed table raises and lowers it 48 3/4 in. Out-feed is 36 1/4 in. which has a casting no on side eb 193a. Fence is 49 in, adjustable to 45 degree angle. It is a 4 knife cutter head with double roller bearings. The knives are 12inx 1 3/4x 5/32. They are Yates knives with a 1922 date. Table length is 87in over all. Bed width is 17 1/2 in. Machine runs fine but is heavy.
