I saw this for sale on Craigslist. I went to evaluate it. It was really rough looking. The seller was asking $350. When he wouldn't come down, I left without it. I couldn't stop second guessing my decision. When I called back, he said he had a 2nd party interested and he wouldn't take less. I ended up buying it for the $350 asking price.
It's the oldest & roughest machine I've owned and restored. I had to make repairs to the wheel guards, fabricate a blade guard, find an original fence, make a fence rail, find upper blade guide casting, etc. This is in addition to the usual stripping of 6 layers of paint, cleaning, cleaning, bearing replacement, tire replacement, etc. I also designed and fabricated a new tension screw and spring mechanism that allows modern die springs to be used to achieve proper tension (15,000 psi) for up to a 3/4" wide blade.
I also fabricated replica louvered panels for the cast iron base, and I designed and created an adjustable motor mount to hold the motor inside the base (even though I know this isn't how it was originally, I felt the gain in practicality was worth the modification).
