I'm assuming this is a wood lathe - as Alex Mathieson & Sons made mostly woodworking tools - and also due to the lack of an engineering type tool post. Made in Glasgow, Scotland.

It's located at a junk dealers yard in Central Otago, South Island, New Zealand. It's not mine.

The bed is quite short - about 3 feet long overall.
